1.Introduction
Rules will apply throughout the Intercontinental Road Bicycle Race.
All the athletes who register to the Intercontinental Road Bicycle Race are deemed to have accepted these rules.
Participants should check the contents of the athlete’s bag delivered during kit distribution and should inform the race management if there is any mistake in their personal information.
Race rules, track and date may be subject to change by Sports Istanbul.
2.Age Categories
Young Men (17-18) (Upper gear limit will be 52-14 / 7.93 m)

At least 5 athletes should have registered until the final registration date in order that a category may be opened. If there is no available category, athletes may race under a lower category. For women, the number persons required for opening a category is minimum 3.
3.Team
There is no team ranking.
4.Awards
Among the top ranking 3 athletes in the men’s and women’s age categories, the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd ranking athletes will receive 5,000 TRY, 3,000 TRY and 2,000 TRY, respectively, as well as a cup.
Athletes who finish the race within the cut-off time will receive attendance medal.
5.Bicycle and Equipment
5.1. Genel
Electric bicycles are not allowed.
Each participant is responsible for the safety of his or her own bicycle. Athletes must ensure brakes and other components work properly.
Athletes who are discovered to attend to the race with inappropriate bicycles will be stopped and disqualified. These athletes will not receive any award even though it may be discovered after the race is completed.
Bottle cages are only allowed if mounted on the main body.
5.2. Racing/Road Bicycles
The use of racing/road bicycles is a must for the race.
5.3. Special Rules
Mp3 players and similar other devices as well as non-fixed action cameras are not allowed.
The use of the following components and parts is forbidden;
Triathlon-type handlebars and aerobars,
Single-speed, fixie bicycles
Hand bicycles
Any bicycle with carrier
6.Helmet, Race Number
6.1. Helmet
Athletes must use a helmet throughout the race. All the helmets must comply with DIN 33954, SNEL and/or ANSI safety standards.
6.2. Race Number
Race number serves as the identity of an athlete. It is necessary for race numbers to be used on the back and other applicable parts of athlete’s suit in a visible fashion.
7.Attendance Rules
In order to register to the Intercontinental Road Bicycle Race, athletes must have an individual or club license with 2022 visa issued by Turkish Bicycle Federation or Turkish Triathlon Federation.
Athletes who have received a doping penalty within the recent 3 years cannot register to the race.
8.Intercontinental Road Bicycle Race Services
Motorcycle Pursuit
There will be motorcycles used during the race in order to ensure traffic, road and athlete security.
These motorcycles are intended for ensuring that the race is in compliance with the rules.
In this sense, the motorcycles are authorized to remove the athletes from the race if they don’t comply with the rules. They are also intended for first-aid, technical support and guiding the way for the leading group.
9.Ranking and Results
Non-official results will be announced on the track while the official results will be uploaded to the website of the race on the next day.
9.1. General Individual Results
General individual results are divided into two categories as “Women” and “Men”. There will be two results announced as “General Women’s Raking” and “General Men’s Ranking”.
9.2. Results According to Age Categories
Results of the age categories will be announced separately for women and men.
10.Timing Chip
1.The timing of each individual participant will be electronically measured using chips.
2.It is necessary to attach the chip provided to you during registration, to your bicycle in accordance with the instructions of use.
3.When receiving the chips, participants will submit their licenses which will be returned against the chips. Participants who don’t return the chips will be fined 100$.
11.Food during the Race
At least one food station will be established on the Intercontinental Road Bicycle Race track. In any case, the station(s) will be on the right side of the road.
There will be warning signs on both sides of the road showing that there is a food station 500m or 1,000 ahead.
Athletes must ride on the right and raise their hands in order to indicate that they will stop at the food station. Athletes must watch out when moving from one side to the other and stop after checking the other athletes.
It is forbidden to receive food or beverages from support vehicles. This rule may be changed by the Race Committee only due to weather conditions in which case it will be announced one day before the race.
Athletes cannot receive food or beverages from the audience on the sides of the road or their support teams.
12.Bowing out or Giving a Break
If an athlete is forced to bow out of the race due to a mechanical issue, health conditions or another similar reason, he or she must immediately raise his or her right hand to inform the other athletes and must stop at the nearest available spot. He or she then waits an appropriate and safe time to move to the right side of the road. There, the athlete must wait for the pursuit car. The athlete must raise his or her right arm to indicate that he or she asks for help.
Leaving the track is a reason for disqualification even though the athlete later returns to the track. Official food spots are deemed to be on the race track.
13.Personal Support Cars and Help from Third Parties
It is strictly forbidden for personal or team support cars to drive on the race track.
It is also forbidden to receive technical support or foodstuff from press cars or other official cars which do not belong to the race organization.
It is possible to receive external help in case of health problems or accidents.
14.Average Speed and Athlete Collection Car
The minimum average speed for the Intercontinental Road Bicycle Race is as follows: Athletes must comply with this limit. This speed limit is a part of the rules of the race. Minimum average speed will be checked by the race committee. Based on the traffic conditions, the committee is authorized to exclude the athletes from the race in coordination with the security and police officers if they lag even further behind.
If an athlete cannot catch up with the minimum average speed due to a mechanical, health or any other problem, he or she must go to the “athlete collection car” as per the request of the race organization.
It is necessary to comply with the instructions by the referees and athlete collection car officers.
Athletes who finish the race behind the athlete collection car will be disqualified. The timing of these athletes will appear in the race results but will not take place in ranking.
Athletes who finish the race before the athlete collection car but under the minimum average speed will also be disqualified. The timing of these athletes will appear in the race results but will not take place in ranking.

15.General Riding Rules
Participants must not prevent other athletes from overtaking, intercept or force them out of the road. They must avoid contact with other athletes as much as possible. Except when necessary, athletes will be punished according to the penalty clauses if they physically pull or push other athletes. In this sense, penalty will be applied as per the relevant article if an athlete suddenly stops and changes lanes or suddenly stops at the start without a reason in a way to hinder others.
Holding to motor vehicles or keeping behind them is not allowed. This rule also applies in case of accidents and/or mechanical stops.
Food and beverage exchange is allowed among athletes.
It is forbidden to throw or leave any trash or waste (including flasks and water bottles) to the nature. Athletes acting otherwise will be subject to penalty. Athletes must throw trashes and empty flasks and water bottles to the bins at the food stations, on the road or at the finish.
16.Parts change and Repair
Equipment and tool exchange among athletes is allowed. However, change of rims and bicycles is strictly forbidden.
All the repair works must be performed behind the groups, on the right of the road and, if any, before the service car. If there is a pavement on the right side of the road, it can be used for repair works.
Before doing repair works at the service points, athletes must raise their hand to warn other athletes and then pulls over to stop carefully leaving the race line. Spare parts will always be on the right of the road and will be either at the food stations or otherwise indicated.
17.General Violation Penalties
1.General
Penalties for violations are only imposed by the race committee.
Penalties are indicated under Chapter 17.2 and will be practiced without exception.
The race committee is also authorized to apply penalties for the violations that are not listed hereunder. The race committee is the party to decide on an appropriate penalty.
List of Penalties
The following penalties will be applied in order to ensure the health and safety of the athletes;
Transferring race documents to others without performing the necessary registration transfer application: 3 years of or, if intentional, indefinite debarment from the race.
Misleading the organizer by using another athlete’s transponder: 3 years of debarment from the race.
Using former or incorrect race numbers: 3 years of debarment from the race.
Fighting with other athletes or people: Disqualification and 3 years of debarment from the race.
Riding dangerously on purpose: Disqualification and a year of debarment from the race.
Taking a short cut and deviating from the race track: Disqualification and a year of debarment from the race.
Violating a level crossing with barriers closed: Disqualification and a year of debarment from the race.
Racing with a bicycle contrary to the rules: Disqualification and a year of debarment from the race.
Racing without a helmet or removing helmet during the race. Disqualification and a year of debarment from the race.
Racing without a race number or time transponder: Disqualification and a year of debarment from the race.
18.Recording Rule Violations
The organization and the race committee will record the rule violations at the start and finish and on the race track.
The violations will be recorded and stored as “the List of Violations.”
Athletes who violate the rules but are not disqualified will be warned by the race committee with a memorandum to comply with the rules during the registration next year. Repetition of violations may lead to disqualification or debarment based on its degree.
Athletes who do not engage in any other violation for 3 years will be removed from “the List of Violations.”
Among the top ranking 3 athletes in the men’s and women’s age categories, the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd ranking athletes will receive 5,000 TRY, 3,000 TRY and 2,000 TRY, respectively, as well as a cup.
Athletes who finish the race within the cut-off time will receive attendance medal.
If an athlete cannot be present to get his or her chip and race kit in time, these can be delivered to his or her friends or coach against license or athlete card. Race kits and chips will not be delivered on the day of the race under no circumstances.
Registrations will be made on https://event.spor.istanbul website. Registration fee is 35€. No late registration will be applied. Registration fees will not be returned as long as the race is not cancelled.
Athletes must have an individual or club license with 2022 visa issued by Turkish Bicycle Federation or Turkish Triathlon Federation.
Objections will be made according to the race regulation of Turkish Bicycle Federation. Objections to results must be made within 15 minutes after temporary results are announced.
The race will start at Yenikapı Event Area and pass, respectively, through Kennedy Street to the Sirkeci direction, Yenikapı, Kumkapı, Çatladıkapı, Sarayburnu Sirkeci, Reşadiye Caddesi, Unkapanı bridge, Karaköy, Kemeraltı Street, Tophane, Salıpazarı, Meclisi Mebusan Street, Fındıklı, Dolmabahçe, Dolmabahçe Street, Beşiktaş Street, Barbaros Boulevard, 1st Freeway Turn, Balmumcu Junction, Ortaköy V409 Viaduct, Boğaziçi 15 Temmuz Şehitler Bridge, 1st Freeway, Altunizade Bridge Junction Çamlıca Turn, Acıbadem, Uzunçayır Bridge Junction, Fikirtepe, Söğütlüçeşme, Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium, Bağdat Street, Kalamış, Fener Kalamış Street, Ahmet Mithat Efendi Street, Operatör Cemil Topuzlu Street, Göztepe, Caddebostan, Çetinemeç Boulevard Coast, Suadiye, Bostancı, Turgut Özal Boulevard and Orhan Gazi City Park to finally make a “U” turn on Küçükyalı Cumhuriyet Street and continue back through to Savarona Square which is the first turning point. Having made a second “U” turn here, the race will cover the road on the opposite direction after Bostancı and will continue till Dalyan Park which is the finish line. (After Bostancı, athletes will pass to the opposite lane from the assigned area and ride up to the finish line against the normal traffic flow on Çetin Emeç Boulevard Coast). The length of the race track is 74K.

There will be safekeeping cars present at the start area. All the athletes must deliver the bags provided to them while distributing the kits, to these cars according to their race number. The bags will be returned at the finish line.
The athletes who will deliver their bags to safekeeping cars are required to put the bag number provided by the organization, in the outermost pocket.
The Departure Time of Safekeeping Cars from Start to Finish: 07.40
Bags must be delivered before the indicated time for delivery is over. The bags not delivered until such time will not be accepted.
Participants must not put valuable articles, money, telephone, wallet or similar other belongings in the bags they will deliver. In case of lost bags, the institution and authorities cannot be held responsible.
Bags may be lost in case of bag delivery to a place or vehicle other than safekeeping cars. In such case, the institution and authorities who hold the organization cannot be held responsible.
